Ubisoft’s long-running Assassin’s Creed series is about to be joined by the next entry, Assassin’s Creed Mirage. While the last few games in the series were large, sprawling RPGs, this upcoming installment marks a departure from the massive open-world RPGs of recent Assassin’s Creed games, and a return to the series’ roots with its focus on stealth-focused gameplay.
The game has no set date for release, but we can expect it in the second half of 2023
Set in the late 9th century in Iraq, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to take the series back to where it began with social stealth, fast parkour, and agile assassinations. Players take on the role of Basim, a member of the Hidden Ones, and the game follows Basim’s early years before he joined the Assassin’s Order.
The game will feature an open city, as with previous iterations of the game, and the focus will be on the core elements of older games like parkour, stealth, and assassinations. Players will be able to upgrade Basim’s weapons with various effects, and they can use Enkidu, Basim’s eagle, to scout locations and mark enemies.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage doesn’t feature dialogue options or a level system, and is instead designed to be a more linear action-adventure title. Players will get to experience a “coming of age” story, and will be able to meet Roshan, Basim’s mentor who will be a key character throughout the game.
