Final Fantasy XVI is the subsequent installment in Square Enix’s long-running series and is set to release exclusively for the PlayStation 5 on June 22, 2023. The game was revealed at The Game Awards 2022, with a brand new trailer. Final Fantasy XVI will be an action role-playing game, featuring a story and gaming experience integrated into a single-player game. While the sport will not be an open-world game, it will take inspiration from recent triple-A open world titles.
The game’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, has referred to that the game will focus on mature themes and will feature a new combat system which blends the fast-paced action of FF15 with some of the structures shown off in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
Players can expect to explore the world of Valisthea, with its effective eikons and six powerful nations. The game’s main protagonist, Clive Rosfield, is tasked with protecting his younger brother Joshua, who holds a Dominant of the Phoenix. With his Blessing of the Phoenix, Clive has access to some of the eikon’s flame and power, allowing him to become stronger. He and his friends, such as the young Jill Warrick, will be swept up into a great tragedy as the game progresses.
