The January 15th North London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal was a key fixture in the race for the Premier League title. Arsenal opened up an eight-point lead at the top of the table with a 2-0 victory over Spurs, courtesy of a Hugo Lloris own goal and a long-range strike by Martin Odegaard.
The second half saw Spurs push desperately for a goal, but Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was up to the task, making several key saves to deny Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min. Arsenal saw out the game to take all three points, extending their lead at the top of the table to eight points ahead of second-placed Manchester City.
The victory was a huge one for the Gunners, who had lost all of their previous visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The result also confirms Arsenal as genuine contenders for the Premier League title, with Mikel Arteta’s side looking like the only team with the consistency to last the course.
