The upcoming game Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to be a return to the series’ stealth-focused roots. Taking place 300 years before the original game and set in Baghdad during the 9th Century CE, players will take on the role of Basim Ibn Ishaq, known as Loki in Valhalla. The game is set to be narrated by Roshan, Basim’s mentor, and will focus on Basim’s initiation as an assassin and his journey thereafter.
The game’s pre-rendered trailer, released at Ubisoft’s Forward 2022 event, showed off plenty of fights and parkour, climaxing with the removal of Basim’s finger to complete his initiation into the Order. The trailer was narrated by the inimitable voice of Shohreh Aghdashloo, who fans may recognize from The Expanse, Mass Effect, and Destiny.

The game was originally rumoured to be a DLC for Valhalla, but a later leak suggested that it is actually the next main-line game in the series. Along with Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Ubisoft also announced that there is another game set in Japan in the works, as well as a witch-focused game. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to be released in 2023 and is sure to be an exciting addition to the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
