Microsoft declared that in early February, it is removing more than 45 Xbox games and their accompanying DLC from the Xbox Store on Xbox 360. Though, the games will remain obtainable on the more modern Xbox consoles for users to acquire and download.
Microsoft announced on the Xbox Support page, discovered by Wario64 on Twitter, that the removal of certain games will start on February 7, 2023. The page also stated that any game that is taken down can be accessed again from the Download History page.
A few of the releases slated for deletion include Assassin’s Creed IV, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Castle Crashers, Dark Souls, Skate 2, and The Witcher 2. These titles are all on the older side, but some are still playable on modern Xbox consoles due to backwards compatibility.
Microsoft failed to offer an explanation for why they are removing the 45 Xbox 360 games off the Xbox Store for that specific platform.
Microsoft has also announced that four titles will be withdrawn from their Game Pass library on the 31st of January, including Telling Lies, Donut County, Worms W.M.D. and Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master.
