Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to hit Disney+ on February 1, 2023. The highly anticipated Marvel sequel follows the death of the beloved franchise lead Chadwick Boseman and has already earned more than $180 million in its opening weekend. With the digital release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Disney continues its trend of debuting Marvel Studios films on its streaming platform.
The film stars Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, and Tenoch Huerta in a story that follows the events of the first Black Panther movie. Wakanda Forever brings an incredible emotional journey to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It also introduces Riri Williams, a brilliant MIT student played by Judas and the Black Messiah’s Dominique Thorne, who is getting her own live-action Disney+ series, Ironheart. The movie’s release on Disney+ will also mark the beginning of MCU’s Phase 5, which includes the theatrical release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and the springtime premiere of Disney+’s Secret Invasion series.
In addition to Wakanda Forever, Disney+ will also feature the upcoming Thunderbolts movie which stars an all-star cast of Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Olga Kurylenko and Hannah John-Kamen. Directed by Jake Schreier and written by Eric Pearson, the movie will bring an exciting twist to the Marvel world and is expected to be released on July 26, 2024.
